Breathing air and light (into the physical body):

1. Preliminary practice for 3-5 breaths- On a slow, rhythmic count of four, inhale air and imagine that along with the air that you are inhaling light. This light is the creative force of the universe, the force that causes the wind to blow or a flower to open. On another count of four, exhale, exhaling only the air keeping the light inside. If you know the yogic technique of breath retention (kumbhaka), you may include this, and imagine light spreading throughout your system during retention.

2. Main practice for up to 30 minutes - Inhale and exhale the same as the preliminary practice except imagine the light filling the physical system one part for each breath. Inhale and light fills the lungs and respiratory system, exhale. Inhale and light fills the heart and circulatory system (including lymphatic), exhale. Go through the other systems of the body one by one with each breath. Remember to include musculoskeletal, nervous, immune, endocrine, digestive, integumentary (the skin), urinary, reproductive. Breathe light to all the organs and remember to include the brain. If you are having pain in any particular part of the body, breathe air and light into that part especially. Focus on experiencing the light in each part as you breathe.
